All You Need to Know About

Trash Service in Hanover Township

Whitetail Disposal (A Casella Company) is proud to partner with Hanover Township to provide weekly trash and every other week recycling service to it’s residents.
  • Casella carts will be supplied to residents and must be used for service.
  • All trash and recycling must be in provided carts. An additional or smaller cart is available, please contact our team for more information.
  • Your carts should be at least 3 feet clear of any other objects including other carts, mailboxes, cars, street signs, etc.
  • Wheels on your cart should be toward the house so that all materials are emptied.
  • Be sure trash is bagged and lids are closed to prevent spills.
  • Please make sure carts are at the curb the night before your pick-up day.

We cannot take:

  • Hazardous waste including radioactive, reactive, toxic, ignitable, corrosive, or acidic items.
  • C & D including materials resulting from construction, remodeling, repair or demolition operations. This also includes items like panes of glass from tables, windows, doors, etc.

Bulk Waste

Bulk item collection is available for residents. All bulk items must be scheduled and paid for in advance.

Large items of refuse including, furniture, carpet, mattresses, and non-freon based appliances normally generated at a residential property.

  • This does not include construction debris: waste building materials resulting from construction, remodeling, repair or demolition operations.

Mattresses and Toilets

For our employees’ safety:

  • Mattresses and box springs must be wrapped in plastic.
  • Toilets must be bagged.

Recyclables must be clean and dry.

Do not bag recyclables.

If your recycling is contaminated it will be handled as trash.

Acceptable Items

 All bottles and containers must be rinsed clean and dry.

Dirty recycling is contaminated recycling.

Shredded paper cannot be recycle. It clogs the recycling sorting line.

If paper is soiled or wet, compost or trash it.

Must be broken down.

If cardboard is soiled, compost or trash it.

Unacceptable Items

Plastic bags are not accepted as part of curbside recycling programs – they get tangled in equipment and threaten worker safety.

Plastic bags can be recycled at most grocery stores.

Plastic wrap, bubble wrap, sandwich bags and freezer bags should not go in the recycle bin.

Reuse whenever possible for presents, moving, or storage of similar items, or look for local options to recycle.

Flexible packaging like chip bags and juice or soup pouches cannot be recycled in curbside programs.

This type of packaging is made from multiple materials preventing it from being recycled.

Food and yard was cannot be recycled through our curbside program.

Polystyrene foam, plastic “to-go” containers and cups are made of non-recyclable materials, and are not acceptable in the curbside recycling program.

Packing peanuts aren’t recyclable either, however some shipping stores will take peanuts back for reuse.

Yard Waste and Leaves

Hanover Township’s Public Works Department will continue to provide yard waste and leaf collection.

Leaf collection begins mid-October and will continue to the end of November or the first week of December, weather permitting.

  1. Breakdown and flatten all boxes.
  2. Stack boxes neatly.
  3. Secure with tape or twine.

Bundles should be 4′ long x 1′ thick or less.

One (1) bundle per week can be put out next to the recycling cart.

If you have anything unusual like construction material, paint cans, or appliances, please contact us first and we may be able to assist with recommendations to dispose of these items.
